HellboyAuthor: Navarro, Yvonne |

|
From the Editors of Barnes and Noble: Now as the top field agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, a clandestine branch of the FBI, Hellboy’s job mandate is relatively simple: Track down and eradicate supernatural beings. Vampires, werewolves, hellish ghouls — so far nothing has been able to best the 6′9″ horned giant with a stone fist (the Right Hand of Doom) and a multipurpose, handheld cannon affectionately named the Good Samaritan. But when Dr. Trevor “Broom” Bruttenholm — Hellboy’s foster father and the man who lovingly raised him from an infant — is killed by the same villainous group who brought the half demon to earth decades earlier, Hellboy vows to kill the Nazi sorcerers once and for all and end their nefarious plan to bring Armageddon to Earth. Standing in Hellboy’s way is a nightmarish hellhound that is seemingly impossible to kill. And to complicate matters further, the Nazis have the love of Hellboy’s life, a beautiful pyrokinetic named Liz. As haunting as it is hilarious, this fast-paced novelization will undoubtedly spur science fiction fans to search out the numerous graphic novels and find out more about the lovable, butt-kicking, demonic hero. |

Hannah Danior is a young woman struggling to build a life after an unspeakable experience in her childhood. Now self-sufficient, she is nonetheless still tormented by her past . . . and the cruel demons of her childhood are not finished with her. At any instant and with no warning, she will inexplicably manifest the injuries of someone she’s never even met. Enduring everything from mere bruises to mortal blows, many of her wounds would kill a normal woman, but just as inexplicably, she heals — at astonishing speed — presumably so she can be victimized again. With her face and body disfigured by countless scars, Hannah desires only to be left alone. But fate has other ideas when a pair of detectives catch the similarity between her most recent horrific event — where her throat is suddenly cut — and the murder of a neighborhood woman. One demands answers she doesn’t have and the other, a man she doesn’t recognize at all, raises instinctive alarms inside Hannah’s head. When the unthinkable happens and one of the detectives falls in love with her, the search for the truth about Hannah’s past and an unseen killer twists itself from the realm of the supernatural into the unforgiving streets of Chicago . . . |

It’s a good fight, Buffy, and I want in.” Since the self-proclaimed “science nerd” had the odd luck to fall in with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Willow Rosenberg has come into her own. But as time passed, Willow’s powers evolved from Web surfing to the limitless realm of magic. And with that change came some difficult life lessons. Willow has always longed for more parental guidance, but when Sunnydale’s adults are swept up in a witch hunt, Willow finds that her mother’s judgment really bums. And who knew that her forays into the black arts would bring her literally face-to-face with an alter ego “Old Reliable” never imagined existed? Ultimately, though, when it comes time to take charge of her future, Willow realizes that whether it be as a computer hacker or Wicca extraordinaire, she can go further than she had ever dreamed . . . by staying right where she has been all along. |

I mean, three days out of the month I’m not much fun to he around, either.” When Buffy the Vampire Slayer arrived in Sunnydale, she befriended a bookish, insecure girl named Willow. But Willow’s love life is severely lacking, consisting of an unfulfilled crush on her friend Xander and a short-lived fling with a deadly demon she met over the Internet. Through her often life-threatening experiences with the Slayer, Willow gains the confidence to just be herself in the peer pressure-filled world of high school. And when her first real boyfriend, Oz, turns out to be a bit . . . unusual . . . in his own right, Willow is just the girl to prove that love really is blind . . . and a little scary. |

Babylon 5: River of Souls
Numerous sources list Babylon 5: River of Souls as one of Ms. Navarro’s published works. This is, in fact not true. It was written but problems arose and the author had to walk away from the project that she loved. It is currently in limbo but not likely to see publication. This is sad but these things happen. The only account I’ve found about River of Souls is on Yvonne Navarro’s website. If you need to know the history of this lost project I recommend you start there.
Notes:
Yvonne Navarro lives in Arizona with her husband and fellow writer Weston Ochse and a pair of Great Danes.
