I like horror but put me in the disappointed camp. Slipping in a Stephen King/Dean Koontz plot element was really annoying after the setup of the first two books. When I realized where Lindsay was going I nearly had a "hurl book against the wall and vow to never read another" moment. I read a lot of crime/mystery/thriller books and I think what bothered me was a sudden switch to horror after two pretty good, straightforward serial killer stories.
