Let’s Make this Website Fun

by The Undead Rat on January 18, 2010

This third post in the series is a miscellaneous collection of questions. Basically, what would make this website more fun so that you’d visit it frequently and tell your friends about it?

Rules for Responding:
I can’t promise to respond to each comment but I will read all of them. I won’t promise to enact each idea, but I will give each on careful consideration. Be specific with your comments. Of course, please don’t use profanity or spam the system. Today the questions will focus on the blog content.

Today’s Questions: Extras

Extras: This is a hodgepodge category that includes everything not a book list and not a summary. As always, anything not specifically covered in a question below is still fair game to talk about.

  1. Additional Blog Posts: Besides the summaries which I tend to post three times aweek, would you like additional posts on Tuesday and Thursday? What kind of extra content would you be interested in? Horror genre news? Horror author interviews? Posts about forthcoming publications?

  2. The Anthologies and Story Collections Posts: For the last few months — with the exception of the winter holiday gift ideas series — I have made Saturday and Sunday the days I make a simple post displaying the information on an anthology (and this year I’ll add author’s story collections, too) with the full table of contents. This is helpful if you’re looking for particular stories or to see what authors contributed to a particular anthology. Should I continue with this? Do you like it or am I wasting electrons on it?

  3. Book Trailers: I used to present a new book trailer each month in a special book on the sidebar. Problem was, it was difficult finding book trailers for horror books, especially some that didn’t involve swearing. Moreover, it caused the website to load slowly. Once or twice a book trailer stayed an extra month because I couldn’t find a replacement. However, if you’re missing the book trailer feature, I could make a post and embed news ones that I find. If I do this in the blog rotation — so they don’t stay on “top” all month long, then I’m more likely to easy the swearing restriction which would mean more trailers to watch.

  4. Weblinks: Besides the book lists, another thing I took with me from the closed ReaditNow 24/7 is pages of weblinks. Should I up date and expand these weblink pages? What kind of weblinks would you like to see? Links to author’s sites? Links to horror publisher’s websites? Links to websites that review horror books? Links to website that present horror genre news? Something else I haven’t thought of?

  5. Bonus Extras: Do you want special articles or article reprints reformatted into one report all put in an easy to download PDF format? What kind of material would interest you?

  6. Multimedia: Should I look into audio podcasts and/or video casts as part of the website services? What kind of audio and video podcasts would interest you? Any thoughts?

Once again, the ball is in your court. I’ve posted some questions above but really anything can be commented upon. What do you think?
