Do you ever wish you had an online bookstore that was dedicated to horror fiction. Sure Amazon and Barnes and Noble carry Stephen King and Peter Straub, but what about Brian Keene? Charlee Jacob? Wrath James White? Gina Ranalli? J. F. Gonzalez? Gary A. Braunbeck? How about a place where you can discover new authors you’ve never heard of before? Authors like Bridget Morrow? Michele Lee? Sandy Deluca?
Well, Horror Mall is the place — the absolute must shop place for any serious fan of horror literature who wants a wider range of books than are offered on the shelves of the chain bookstores.
I’ve been shopping at Horror Mall almost since its formation by owner Shane Ryan Staley and chief partner in operations, Larry Roberts. Shane is the publisher of Delirium Books and Larry owns Bloodletting Books.
What Horror Mall is:
In their FAQ, they give Horror Mall’s mission statement:
“Horror Mall’s mission is to collect the best independent horror products within a single storefront while marketing indie horror outside of its niche. Horror Mall’s focus remains heavily on literary works which is a passion of both proprietors.
–Horror Mall’s FAQ
To this end they make available horror fiction from the small independent presses including such companies as Bad Moon Books, Cargo Cult Press, Earthling Publications, Necro Publications, Skullvines Press, and even some overseas publishers like PS Publishing and Tasmaniac Publications.
Horror Mall is actually a series of bookstores that share a single location on the internet, a single checkout and website format. The bookstores are: Bad Moon Books, Bloodletting Books, Darkside Digital, Delirium Books, Oddity Cotton, Sideshow Press and Thunderstorm Books. Several of them carry not only their own titles but the titles of other small presses.
Still, the mall itself flows together so seamlessly that most of the time you’ll never know you purchased items form four different stores.
Shopping Safety:
What about safety? Is it safe to shop on Horror Mall?
The answer is yes.
Like all the best online bookstores, Horror Mall runs on an authenticated secure server (SSL). All information is strongly encrypted and never shared. You can view their Comodo secure certificate on the bottom of the far right hand column of any page. Place your mouse on the Comodo secure certificate to view the information.
Furthermore, as the FAQ states: “customers are backed by an identity insurance of $10,000″.
Horror Mall is interested in your repeat business so they take great pains to make sure your shopping experience is safe and enjoyable.
Customer Service:
How about customer service?
Ordering your books is easy and they ship quickly. Most of the time the process is painless and efficient.
Horror Mall is run by a great group of people but they are human and every so often mistakes happen.
When they happen, the Horror Mall website has a support ticket system of customer support. In essence, you click on the customer support button on the right hand column and fill out a ticket explaining the problem. In less than 24 hours someone will get back to you with a solution.
Trouble magnet that I am, I’ve used customer support twice and each time the response was within hours, very courteous and always helpful.
Interested? Check out the FAQ page, then go exploring. You’ll find books and authors you never knew existed and that is half the fun of Horror Mall!
